Tarot Tuesday: The Hearth, Three Cards Around Nothing

Vesta turns retrograde today. Vesta is the asteroid named for the goddess who tended the fire, and the job was never glamorous. Somebody keeps the flame alive so everyone else gets to live around it. When Vesta reverses, the question stops being how well you tend it and becomes what exactly you have been tending.
A trine is 120 degrees. Three of those make a closed triangle, which is also the shape you build a fire inside.
So today’s spread is three cards in a triangle with nothing in the middle. The empty space is the point. Before you read a single card, name what sits in the centre. The thing you have been keeping going. You already know what it is.
🐅 THE FLAME: Queen of Wands
A crowned tiger sits on a stone throne ringed with sunflowers, storm clouds stacked behind her and not one of them her problem. This is devotion held with dignity rather than complaint, and it is genuinely admirable. It is also the position nobody checks on, because you have made it look effortless for so long that everyone assumes it is.
🐀 THE FUEL: Eight of Swords
A mole sits upright with its paws folded, eight swords driven into the mud around it, none of them touching. What you have been burning is not effort. It is the belief that you are the only one who can do this, and that belief holds you in place more effectively than any of those blades. Check which ones are real.
🐢 THE ASH: Seven of Pentacles
A tortoise moves through a ruined stone archway while the fruit hangs ripening above it. This is the honest accounting. Some of what you tended did grow, slowly enough that you may not have noticed it happening. The rest went to ash, which is not failure. It is what fire does to things that were only ever fuel.
Read as one: the triangle holds. That is what a trine does. The question Vesta is asking as she reverses is not whether you can keep this up, because obviously you can. It is whether the thing in the middle is still worth the heat.
