Love Horoscope for the Week of February 8

Listen to this article

Have you noticed recently that even a good week sometimes feels like it’s standing in the shadow of something bigger and more ominous? That sort of thing is to be expected, given the current state of the world. But there is an astrological reason for that, especially this week. Although the exact aspect doesn’t happen until next week, Saturn square Uranus is now very close to the exact degree. Don’t be too surprised if you feel it breathing down your neck particularly strongly this week. Putting things together will be more difficult than average, and breaking free of patterns will be more of a challenge.

Well, that was cheerful, wasn’t it? Now on with better news…

When it comes to love, sex, and romance, we generally look to Venus and Mars first. Both of those planets are having a pretty good week overall. Yes, Mercury square Mars is exact on Wednesday, and that can make for some verbal outbursts and agitation. But perhaps more importantly, we should focus on Mars sextile Neptune. That aspect isn’t exact until Saturday, but it makes all of this week and next week a generally good time to put softer and more romantic intentions into what you do with your Mars. Try a little tenderness… then don’t be afraid to get a little creative and/or freaky with it.

Meanwhile, Venus conjunct Jupiter is also in effect this week. The worst part of this aspect is that you may find you overdo it with your affections and your spending habits and your diet. But “overdoing it” sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

On Saturday, Mercury conjunct Venus is exact. This could lead to creative pursuits and new ways of expressing yourself. When’s the last time you sat down and wrote a proper sonnet to impress a potential paramour? Or, something like that? You would be surprised how effective that sort of thing can be, and this weekend will be an excellent time to get good results. Be creative in your love life!

With all my introductory warnings about Saturn square Uranus, and focus on the warm potentials that come with Venus and Mars, I deliberately skipped over what I personally think is the most important aspect happening this week. On Thursday, we receive the gift of a New Moon in Aquarius. I often tell people that the New Moon is an excellent time to sort out what you want and what you don’t want in your life, and what you can do to make things go more your way. Whatever those things may be are individual to you and your life, but if you’re going to do that, I’d like to put in a request. Aquarius is traditionally associated with things like “Universal Love” and such like. And to be honest, could we not all use a bit more of that than we’ve had recently? Why not take the time out and take advantage of the energies that are happening now to be kinder and more understanding with ourselves and each other? In other words: you don’t need to be arguing with everyone 24/7 on social media. Do you?
