There’s no way to start this week’s forecast other than to address the elephant in the room: Tuesday’s Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn. If you’ve been reading my work here for a while, you already know that an Eclipse is a much bigger and more important event than just on the day it happens. Nonetheless, this Eclipse is special for two reasons.
First of all, like any Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse can cause your mood (or the moods of those around you) to go seriously off the rails at least temporarily — and that’s always worth being particularly attentive to. A Lunar Eclipse can be especially explosive that way. Think of it as a rubber band that has been tensed up since the last Eclipse two weeks ago suddenly releasing all that emotional energy.
Second, this Eclipse is conjunct Pluto. If you were thinking, “Wow that sounds really powerful!” you’d be absolutely right. This Eclipse takes on particular significance when you consider that Pluto, and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, have been making life incredibly difficult for many of us in the last year or so. Tuesday’s Eclipse could be a major trigger for events that have been building for some time now. If you have any major placements in your birth chart between about 17 and 26 degrees of the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), this could prove to be an exceptionally tough Eclipse for you. Even if you don’t have any placements in those critical degrees, someone around you probably does. Be prepared to be the shoulder someone leans on (or possibly the target they take a swing at, depending on the circumstances).
Other than that (which reminds me of the old joke about “other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?”), there is some interesting Venus action happening this week that could potentially provide good times and good news in your love life. The most difficult bit of Venus-related news happening this week occurs on the day after the Eclipse, when Venus opposite Saturn is exact. Although this aspect isn’t the greatest to be starting a new relationship under, some relationships require a little common sense and a more detached approach in order to make things work better. Venus opposite Saturn can provide that energy. Other than that, this week’s romance outlook is more good news than bad.
Venus trine Neptune is exact on Thursday. This aspect will make the tail end of the week sweet, affectionate and romantic. Any planet making an aspect to Neptune, even a good one like the trine, can get a little unrealistic. But let’s be honest here: sometimes realism is overrated. If you can’t be at least a little unrealistic about love, then what’s the point?
Finally, if you’ve been on the fence about a relationship or about pursuing a new one, Sunday provides the aspect that may very well push you or the object of your affections into taking action. Venus opposite Pluto adds an additional layer of appetite to the usual warm and lovely qualities of Venus. Venus may not be the type of planet that normally appreciates a gnawing hunger, but that sort of thing can be just the motivator that Venus really needs. So by all means… if you find yourself hungry for love this weekend? Put on a bib and dig right in!
