I often tell my clients that you have to be a little bit crazy to be in love with someone. It’s unavoidable, really: with all those hormones flashing around, your brain is bound to get a little scrambled somehow. If you’ve ever been in a relationship where you could have spared yourself some difficulties by leaning on logic rather than feelings, this week will give you the opportunity to do just that. Then, by the end of the week, all of that reason gets blown out of the water by an attack of romantic passion.
For the most part it’s Mercury, the planet of logic and reason, that’s in the spotlight this week. Mercury wraps up its trip through Leo with Mercury sextile Venus, which is exact on Monday. This is an excellent aspect for being creative, writing love letters, being persuasive, and asking for mercy (or a raise).
On Wednesday, Mercury enters Virgo. Mercury in Virgo is a strong placement. This does not guarantee that you will suddenly get smarter or wiser about your word choices, but it certainly won’t hurt. Generally, intellectual pursuits and communications will be favored. On Thursday, Saturn turns direct in Capricorn, and the day after that Mercury forms a trine to both Uranus and Saturn. This could be an unusually fruitful time to put a long-term plan in motion that you’ve been putting off, or get to work on a new project that requires both a new approach and solid results — especially given that Saturn is no longer retrograde.
So that all sounds nice and safely intellectual, doesn’t it? No chance of any bruised feelings, right? Not so fast there, pal. That big hormone surge I mentioned coming in at the end of the week? It’s from Venus square Mars. Normally this aspect causes a real increase in the urge to merge and to socialize in general. Given that Venus is in the sign that it rules (Libra) and Mars is in the sign of its exaltation (Capricorn), both these placements are incredibly powerful — but Mars is the likely winner of the two. In other words, don’t be too surprised if you end up spending a lot of time in bed with someone. Whether or not that someone is the right person may well depend on how well you used your Mercury earlier in the week.
Finally on Sunday, a New Moon in Virgo will give you the opportunity to set your goals for the coming month. If one of your goals is to avoid a sexual encounter like the one I warned you about earlier this week, or to take a vow of celibacy… good luck with that. Venus enters Scorpio on Sunday as well… and Venus in Scorpio sure loves sex.
