Love Horoscope for the Week of October 9

You know the old saying: “good news is no news.” Or is that “no news is good news”? Maybe you can’t be bothered with correcting yourself, and that’s likely due to Mercury square Pluto, which is exact on Monday. It’s not exactly the best day to be issuing that quarterly report or having that touchy conversation with a loved one, but keep calm and make sure you aren’t talking just for the sake of talking, and that you aren’t just verbally blowing off steam.

It’s particularly important now to be careful with what and how you communicate, because the big aspect that hangs over the entire week like a great big lump is Mars square Saturn. Mars rules anger, aggression, and the sex drive. Saturn rules obstacles and limitations. Put the two of them together in a square and you’re going to have a heck of a time getting anything done. Imagine getting halfway through a jigsaw puzzle, getting frustrated with it, and kicking over the table rather than finishing it. And of course, by “jigsaw puzzle,” I mean “your love life.”

Having said that: there are glimmers of optimism this week if you know where to look for them. On Tuesday, Jupiter enters Scorpio. It’s been my experience that, overall, Scorpio is a more fortunate place for Jupiter to be than Libra. Also, you may be surprised to learn how many comedians have Jupiter in Scorpio in their birth charts. Jupiter is also the natural ruler of marriages in committed relationships, and Scorpio is known for taking things seriously. This may well make the next year a good time for sealing the deal as far as serious relationships go.

But wait: poor little Mercury isn’t out of the woods just yet. Don’t go proposing to the first attractive stranger you see just because Jupiter is in Scorpio now. Thursday brings us Mercury sextile Saturn, which may be a good time to smooth over any ruffled feathers with a kind word, or make some practical plans. Try to get that done though before Sunday, when Mercury opposite Uranus makes the planet of thought and language all erratic and strange again.

Now, here’s the optimistic part of this week’s forecast. On Saturday (just in time for Date Night) Venus enters Libra. As many of you know, this is considered a great place for Venus to be, and Libra has a natural association with relationships. There’s no one planetary placement that absolutely guarantees romantic success or failure of course, but between now and the second week of November will likely be good times for either starting a new relationship or pumping some new life into an existing one. Then after that, Venus enters Scorpio and presumably you can start gettin’ busy with it.
