Love Horoscope for the Week of August 14

You know, there are a lot of astrologers out there who make a big deal out of it when they manage to make one correct public prediction. But did you notice that I said you’d survive last week’s Lunar Eclipse, and you did? You’re welcome. My next bold prophecy? You’ll make it through next week’s Solar Eclipse, too. In the meantime though, let’s focus on something that often gets overlooked at a time like this: the stuff that happens in between a pair of Eclipses.

The week is dominated by aspects to Venus and Mars. That’s certainly good news if you are relationship-minded, looking to change the state of your love life, or simply want to get out and socialize more. Although I will be listing the days each aspect is exact, they’ll dominate the week and all blend together like a glorious if somewhat confused Romantic Stew.

On Tuesday, Venus opposite Pluto takes your romantic longings and makes them a little stronger and deeper. If you aren’t in a relationship, you may be feeling the absence of one more strongly; and if you are, you may be getting more out of it… or wanting more.

Speaking of wanting things more strongly, Wednesday brings us Mars quincunx Pluto. Last week I described how Mars quincunx Neptune can make for interesting but impractical attractions and some confusion around the whole idea of what’s best for you. Mars quincunx Pluto has a similar effect, except that instead of unusual attractions you can count on more demanding attractions. As with the aspect to Neptune though, this is no guarantee that your choices are desires will be wise or practical.

Contributing to the whole “I want it all and I want it now” mood is Venus square Jupiter, which is exact on Thursday. If you need to blow off some steam or break your diet or just go out and have some fun, this can be an excellent time. On the other hand, if your love life and finances and diet need to be stricter? This is the wrong week to get anything done.

Fortunately for all of us, the week ends with an aspect that both increases desire but is a lot more sensible and controllable than the other proceedings this week. Mars sextile Jupiter, exact on Sunday, is a great chance for you to put your energy to real and useful work, whether we’re talking about your love life or simply getting things done around the house. Be cautious with those short trips to the hardware store and sending off those love letters though, because Mercury is still retrograde.

See? That wasn’t so bad a week, was it? Take the time to rest and relax and make yourself a little happier, because next week is that big Solar Eclipse everyone is in a tizzy about, and you will need all the rest you can get to talk yourself and your friends down off the ledge.
