Love Horoscope for the Week of July 17

I spent most of last week’s forecast griping loudly about the effects of Mars square Uranus (which is exact this Monday but messes with the entire week), so here’s just a brief summary: both your temper and your sex drive (and those of others) may be prone to wild and hard-to-cope-with fluctuations, so be prepared for that — and if your blood pressure is an issue, keep an eye on that. Now, having said that, let’s get on with the week — which despite the Mars-Uranus situation, might not be all that bad.

It’s a commonly held belief that “good news is no news”: when’s the last time you saw CNN start a “Breaking News” segment with everything that didn’t blow up today? In order to correct that in your own life, focus on the energy provided by Venus trine Jupiter, which is exact on Tuesday but influences the whole week. This aspect can soothe tempers, make thoughts and feelings sweeter and more inviting, and possibly mess up your diet… but hey, nothing is perfect.

You can stabilize your various human relations this week (and streamline your own thoughts and words) with a little help from Mercury trine Saturn, which is exact on Wednesday. Ever notice how relationships (romantic or otherwise) over a long period of time tend to settle into a sort of shorthand? That’s convenient, but it isn’t always conducive to really sharing your hopes and ideas. This aspect can help you find clearer and better ways to talk to and to understand someone who has been in your life for a while.

Although Mars is still within square range of Uranus, on Thursday Mars enters Leo. Many of us will see a distinct improvement in temperaments and motivations. Mars in Cancer is, frankly, a fairly difficult placement. The aggression of Mars and the defensiveness of Cancer are one of those odd couples that often don’t work out. Yes, Mars in Leo has a reputation for being overly dramatic and a bit too showy with its displays of anger, but when it gets cranky, Mars in Leo tends to get over it sooner, and also has a talent for making things more fun. Doesn’t that sound useful when it comes to your love life?

When it comes to that Mars in Leo reputation for flamboyant temper flare-ups, be careful during the mid-to-late part of the week when Sun square Uranus (also exact on Thursday) makes the wrong people feel just a little more important than they ought to be. Make sure you aren’t That Guy before you blow up on someone.

If you made it through the weekend and your love life wasn’t all that you had hoped for, Sunday is a good day to set yourself the task of starting anew or with a different approach. The New Moon in Leo is an excellent time to take a look at yourself and your romantic situation and dedicate yourself to making some changes happen.
