Gemini and Virgo: A Mercurial match

September 26, 2008 by Jeffrey Kishner 5 Comments

[ad]The following guest post is by Dina Peace.

Earth is dense and contained, whereas Air is light and expansive. These elements don’t see things eye to eye, but within the realm of astrology, there is an exception to the rule — the coupling of Gemini and Virgo.

Upon first impression, the pairing of the Celestial Twins and the Cosmic Virgin doesn’t seem like a match made in Heaven. Gemini is trendy, social and superficial; Virgo is brainy, introverted and critical. Yet the glue that binds these two signs is their ruling planet, Mercury.

Mercury governs intellect, communication, commerce, the immediate environment and travel. But because this planet rules Gemini and Virgo, these signs represent both halves of the same coin. Gemini and Virgo both represent communication, but the difference lies in how they express themselves. Gemini energy is newsy, and seeks for breadth rather than depth — information for its own sake. Virgo prefers analysis and discrimination. Since Gemini is an Air sign, it is mental and cerebral by nature, and gathers information for stimulation of the mind. Virgo, an Earth sign, is pragmatic in its approach and usually doesn’t deal with information unless it provides a means to a tangible end. When comparing the two Mercurial signs, think of Gemini as a general practitioner medical doctor, while a Virgo is a specialist — like a gastroenterologist (a physician who treats the digestive tract, a body part ruled by Virgo).

Virgo and Gemini do well together in the area of friendship and dating. They both will have plenty to talk about, and will admire the other’s intelligence. Virgo will be piqued and charmed by Gemini’s knowledge of many things, bright outlook on life and witty humor. Gemini will be intrigued with Virgo’s stability, calm personality and matter-of-fact attitude. Gemini will have to understand that Virgo doesn’t necessarily care for the glittering nightlife, while Virgo will make things easier by not keeping Gemini inside the house all day. Both signs are mutable, so compromise shouldn’t be difficult (unless either native has many fixed planets in their birth chart). Sex between the two will be filled with high jinks and excitement. Gemini brings a light-hearted attitude, while Virgo emerges as the ultimate caretaker in the bedroom.

Marriage may be challenging for these two. Gemini, as a rule, has difficulty settling down with one man (or woman), while Virgo is so critical that it will find fault with anything at anytime. True, they can work each other’s nerves, but if they harness the energy of Mercury and use their birthright of adaptability and exchange of ideas, marriage could work.

Yes, Earth and Air do not see eye to eye on everything, but if we are talking about Gemini and Virgo, it is assured that at least there will be plenty of conversation. And that, friends, is one of the cornerstones of an effective relationship.

Wow! I am a Virgo female that has been in a relationship with a Gemini man for a while now, and i completely agree with you; our conversation is never dull and i do not believe it ever could be. We have a perfect friendship and a very successful relationship.
