Although I regularly post links to the latest Sasstrology articles on @sasstrology and the Facebook fan page, I think our community could grow if someone passionate about social media helped to grow the blog’s presence via greater interactivity.

What’s entailed:

• Tweet about current astrological aspects as they pertain to relationships/love, in a manner that is accessible to followers who may not be familiar with aspects.
• Develop relationships with other astrotweeps (astrologers and @sasstrology followers on Twitter), not only by following them but by replying to their tweets.
• Initiate discussions on the Facebook fan page and interact with fans on the page.

What you get out of it:

Although I cannot pay or provide any formal college credit (although you can talk to your professor to see if your position would qualify), you can

1. Add the position to your resume
2. Gain valuable experience, which you can draw upon as a future social media manager
3. Learn the art of writing about astrology for a large readership

How to apply:

• Email jeffrey@sasstrology.com with “Social Media Intern” in the Subject line.
• In the body of the email, include:
  • Your real name and phone number
  • Your twitter name
  • The length of commitment you are willing to make
  • Three example tweets based on aspects (e.g., Venus conjunct Jupiter) and/or ingresses (e.g., Venus enters Pisces) in the ephemeris for February 2010.
  • Links to two real tweets from your Twitter account in which you have replied to an astrologically-related tweet
  • 100-200 words on your social media experience and the depth/breadth of your astrological knowledge
  • One character reference (name and phone number)

Sasstrology is proud to be the host of essays about Saturn in Libra and relationships. According to Donna and CJ, “Each article in the collection discusses one specific issue related to that planet and considers possible solutions or resources. This is a problem-solving forum devoted to helping people solve the personal challenges they’re experiencing under this transit.” Saturn in Libra posts can cover a wide variety of relationship-related topics, such as “relationship stresses like having adult expectations of your lover, accountability in partnerships, commitment fears, setting healthy boundaries, and learning to accept your own limitations and your partner’s when it comes to closeness.”

The Saturn segment of the blog-a-thon will be published on Saturday, March 20.

Here’s how it works:

• Publish an essay about Saturn in Libra and Relationships on your blog. Make sure to make it personally useful to the reader.
• Email me at jeffrey@sasstrology (with “blog-a-thon” in the Subject line) by March 13, including the link to your blog post.
• There will soon be a dedicated blog for the International Astrology Day Blog-a-Thon. I will ask you to link back to it or the dedicated Sasstrology page (or both) from your blog post so that your readers can be exposed to all of the related essays written by other astrology bloggers.

Sasstrology needs beta testers to provide feedback on an upcoming premium service. You should have an advanced knowledge of astrology (planets in signs, aspects, houses, chart patterns) and a willingness to give extensive criticism. I only need ten participants. In the body, tell me about your astrological background and list some of your favorite astrology blogs or writers.

If I choose you and you follow through by participating, you will receive free premium membership.

• 1/5 of respondents would be willing to pay $3-$5 per month to read an analysis by Michelle Piller of the transits and ingresses upon which she bases her weekly horoscopes and daily forecasts. Here’s a sample of what she’d offer for weekly horoscopes, although her analyses would likely be formatted differently to be more accessible.
• You’re not willing to pay for daily horoscopes because you can get them elsewhere for free.

In the free-form section, here’s some of the feedback I’ve received, with my responses in parens:

If Sasstrology started offering a paying membership plan for exclusive content, everything that is currently available will continue to be free. Please describe how you would feel if Sasstrology made this change, even if you chose not to pay.

• “If there would be exclusive content it would be nice to be open about what this exclusive content is.” (I would be open.)
• “Keeping the paying system accessible could be a difficult, since in some countries different systems are used.” (Sorry, I’d probably have to stick to PayPal for simplicity’s sake.)
• “I would be very disappointed. I enjoy Sasstrology, but I wouldn’t pay for its services when I know I would find it elsewhere for free.” (The kind of services we’d offer would not be offered elsewhere for free, to my knowledge.)
• “The current features are too frivolous to pay for.” (Thanks!)
• “If you gave me a composited compatibility chart for me and my partner…what I mean is a reading at a fraction of the price i.e. $30 opposed to $180, then yes I’d be willing to pay for a membership.” (Wouldn’t we all!)
• “If you don’t already do so, offer reports for a fee.” (We do offer reports.)
• “I would not feel any differently as long as what I look at currently is free.” (That’s what I was hoping to hear.)
• “I find your Daily Forcast accuracy is steadfast–bouncing somewhere between alarming accurate and sometimes spot on.” (Ain’t Michelle great?)
• “It would diminish the value of your free content. Now is not the time.” (And when would be the time?)
• “Then it’s just like all the other sites… paid sites tend to go down the route of taking themselves too seriously and Sasstrology always comes off smart, edgy and not far up it’s own ass. I hope that doesn’t change!” (I hope you’d tell me if Sasstrology gets too far up its own ass.)

What other features (free or paid) would you like on Sasstrology?

• “Numerology and chinese horoscopes” (Not gonna happen.)
• “better search system … to make the website more well-organized” (There’s a Google search bar in the sidebar. It’ll search everything on the blog and the forum.)
• “I like reading the analytical posts on synastry or various aspect combinations, that is what I read the site for. So I’d rather see more of that than I would more predictions of whether or not I’m going to find love in this century.”
• “More aspect/house breakdowns in the forecasts” and “The writers should be less flippant, and explain what astrological influences are leading them to their advice.” (This is what we’d offer in the paid service.)
• “I would like to see is a better layout of the information, it always seems like there’s a lot more going on in the site than I realize, because I have to dig for content.” and “There are times when the site is difficult to navigate, so I think a clearer navigation system would be best to work on first, before adding more features.” (Check out the Site Map and Browse Blog Posts section. I’m not sure how else I can organize the information. If you have a degree in Information Architecture, I’d be happy to receive a consultation.)
• “What happened to the weekend love horoscopes for each sign?” (I stopped writing them.)
