Love Horoscope for the Week of May 15

Things are poised to slow down a little this week. Overall, that’s probably a good thing. But, just as there’s a big difference between “asleep” and “knocked unconscious,” you’ve got to be careful not to confuse “slow down a little” with “becoming more restful.”

On Monday, Mercury enters Taurus. In my experience, this is an underestimated placement. Taurus may have more of a reputation for being sensual than for being logical, but Mercury can benefit from the relatively slow and steady energy that Taurus provides. That, and it isn’t retrograde, so let’s not complain too much, shall we?

Things slow down a bit more (but in a less helpful way) in the middle of the week with two quincunxes, which are possibly astrology’s most frustrating aspects. A square may be infuriating, but at least that energy can be translated into taking action and blasting through obstacles. But, the quincunx? All you can really do with those is negotiate your way around them. First on Wednesday, Sun quincunx Saturn could prove to be a big drain on your patience and your energy levels. If you decide to skip your workout, you have my permission.

The second quincunx that’s exact on Wednesday is a bigger and slower one, and will be felt throughout the week. Jupiter quincunx Neptune can be a genuinely helpful aspect if you’re in need of a little original, creative thinking. The downside is that the ideas you come up with under its influence will probably take time and hard work to make them happen, or may just be unrealistic no matter how great you think those ideas are. But don’t be too hard on yourself: under different circumstances, I’m sure your concept for selling Unicorn Insurance would be a huge money-maker.

Things pick up significantly in time for the weekend dating scene, with two aspects exact on Friday to spark things up. First, Mars quincunx Pluto comes with all the usual warnings about the weird and wild nature of a quincunx, but since Mars is involved, it’s likely to increase the mating urges of both yourself and any potential partners. Second, Venus opposite Jupiter (also exact on Friday, but influencing the second half of this week and the first half of next week) is a sweet ride to Candyland. That wasn’t a metaphor about your love life, by the way — it was a warning that sticking to your diet is going to be really difficult. But, since it will be making romantic urges stronger as well, this might be the weekend when you lock eyes with a charming stranger over the dessert section of the buffet.

All of this happens with the Moon in Pisces for Friday and Saturday, but get your activities underway on Saturday before the Moon turns Void of Course in the evening. Otherwise, instead of having a great romance, you might end up just talking to your friends about what might have been. Come to think of it, since the Sun enters Gemini on Saturday, “talking to your friends” may very well be a part of the weekend as well…
