Love Horoscope for the Week of May 1

Part of the joy of checking your Romance Forecast is knowing what to expect in any given week, and knowing how to take advantage of those conditions. This week is noteworthy in that it may not be terribly eventful, but it is book-ended by the drama of previous weeks (yes, Saturn Retrograde is still backing the truck up over your placements in the late degrees of the Mutable Signs) and the drama yet to come (stay tuned!). Although the aspect isn’t exact, Venus in Aries and Mars in Gemini are within sextile range of each other, and this makes the week generally good for relationships, socializing, and sex. If you like those things to happen in a nice orderly manner, get a move on this week, because next week the Mars part of that equation gets amplified.

Monday is May Day, which (based on your perspective) is either a distress call from a sinking ship or a celebration that uplifts the noble laborer and his achievements. Since the Moon is Void of Course for most of the day in Cancer and then enters Leo, either could apply in your case. Monday morning under a Void Moon is not the time to start a successful Worker’s Uprising.

Most of the week is under the influence of Sun sextile Neptune, which is exact on Wednesday. This aspect is a little like letting your sore and swollen Ego (pummeled by various recent events) sink into a nice warm bath. This should also have the effect of smoothing over some ruffled feathers with the people around you, so take advantage of the peace while you can and take care of yourself, and mend some fences.

Mercury Retrograde ends on Wednesday. Traditionally, the beginning of Mercury Retrograde is a time when I, as a full-time astrologer, spend a large portion of the day reassuring people that their communications and short trips aren’t likely to go too far astray. Now that it’s over it’s time for me to say… as I always do… “sorry about the multiple malfunctions, but at least Mercury Retrograde is over now.” Don’t worry though: if you need something to blame your minor malfunctions on, Mercury is still in what’s called “the shadow period” for the next couple of weeks.

The weekend dating outlook begins on Friday, which is celebrated in America as Cinco De Mayo, an inherently Mexican occasion celebrated with a lot of drinking, just as St. Patrick’s day is an inherently Irish drinking day. Odds are good that you aren’t either Mexican or Irish, but if you play into the Moon in Virgo energies and nitpick such details, you’re likely to miss out on the fun. Also, with Sun quincunx Jupiter happening on Friday (but in effect throughout the weekend) and Mars semi-square Uranus (exact on Saturday), you might want to avoid being excessive with either your drinking, your sex drive, or anything else that could go awry. Get your dating nitpicks out of the way by Saturday evening, and Moon in Libra on Sunday may prove to be a lot more romantic.
