The Full Moon is, like any other astrological aspect, an event with an exact time that has an influence both before and after that exact moment. Tradition (and horror movies) often refer to “the three nights of the Full Moon,” the time during which werewolves are most likely to strike and foolish teenage campers are most prone to sudden disembowelment. This particular Full Moon in Cancer is what some Native Americans call the Full Wolf Moon, and you yourself may be feeling the need to howl at life a bit more than usual this week.
What’s making this particular week a howler is the Venus-Mars-Jupiter T-square, with an added dash of Uranus and Pluto for spice. The Uranus-Pluto square has been grinding along for ages now (well, a couple of years, but it certainly feels like ages, doesn’t it?). Any long and slow transit like that is something that you won’t feel distinctly every single day until something else sets off the tensions that have been building around it. A Venus-Jupiter opposition increases demands for sweetness in all its forms, whether we’re talking about romance or pastries. Adding in the square from Mars just makes those needs a little more pressing; romantic behaviors a little more compulsive; and the lineup at the buffet table a little less polite.
For many of us, and particularly when it comes to our love lives, the Venus-Mars-Jupiter aspect will represent some sort of breaking point. Keep this in mind when baiting your traps for a loved one, and you’re likely to get better results. Fall prey to those impulses, and you might break your own heart… or at least your diet. For those of you who are parents, or are dealing with issues of nurturing and/or are trying to get something to “grow,” this Full Moon is closely square Ceres — so these gentle cautions may go double for you. Keep your wits about you and use those energies wisely. All this impulsiveness reaches a peak Thursday, with the exact Venus-Mars square.
When we’re speaking of “wits,” astrologically, we’re talking about Mercury. Mercury has just entered Aquarius, which is a smart and creative place for it to be, for sure… especially when it receives a sextile from Uranus. That’s a combination for potential genius when it comes to planning out your personal Love Strategy. Unfortunately, there’s no other obvious aspects to Mercury this week, and that can mean that either all your great new ideas will have trouble finding traction in the real world, or that all your clever words and plans won’t have anything real to attach themselves to. Still… if your ideas are that good, they’ll still be good next week too, which might be a better time to initiate them.
By the end of the week, the Sun enters Aquarius, which means a fresh start for a lot of us. That’s always a good and welcome thing… especially after a week dominated by werewolves and howling.
