When you get hit with a Uranus transit, at least one area of your life will be shaken and stirred. Most Uranus transits are dramatic, but certain ones are significant turning points in your life (like the Saturn return). The Uranus square (when transiting Uranus squares your natal Uranus) occurs for everyone around the ages of twenty-one and sixty-three (roughly). It triggers two watershed moments in how you express your individuality. You may experience these moments through your romantic relationships, if one of the following conditions is present in your natal chart:
- Transiting or natal Uranus is in your 1st, 7th, or 5th house
- Natal Uranus conjuncts, opposes or squares your natal Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars
A square creates tension. There’s discomfort that demands you do something to address it, as well as make the required changes. During the first Uranus square, your young-adult urge to express “This is ME” runs up against external resistance. This is the first, significant taste you’ll get of what it means to be an individual who acts against rules or expectations. During the second Uranus square, your individuality must be reassessed against the facts of aging (such as retirement and physical issues). You’re no longer young, and you have to find a new way to express yourself.
