If Mars were a two-year old that you needed to supervise, you’d likely consider giving him something that would absorb his limited attention span for a good long time. That’s when you’d be wise to send Mars into the visionary sign of Sagittarius.
As the planet of action and will, Mars needs a sense of purpose or mission. Without that, he’s just blowing off steam—and probably stepping on someone’s delicate toes while he’s at it. But give Mars a specific task, and he will expend his energy on something worthwhile.
Generally, Mars is all about himself. And, in order to avoid getting stuck in his own ego-driven needs, this warrior planet needs a noble cause he can fight for. Thankfully, Sagittarius has a whole slew of noble causes that suit brave Mars well. Whether it’s a political rally, a religious conversion, or a philosophical debate, Mars has the moxie to take it on. To him it’s all an adventure—much like a trip around the world in eighty days (or 687, to be precise).
One thing that may mar Mars’ transit through Sagittarius is a difference in outlook. Mars is pretty much about short-term enterprises. Sagittarius, on the other hand, relishes long-term goals. Does sprinter Mars have the patience to go the distance and see Sagittarius’ marathon agenda through to the end?
One might also wonder if a Sagittarius quest is too broad for Mars. His energy can become scattered in the Sagittarian field of dreams, unless the vision is so precise that Mars can focus in and give his all. If not, he may turn to sowing his oats.
And why not? This is a planet that is highly responsive to sexual stimulus. Even the intelligence of Sagittarius can be arousing for Mars, provided he can wow you with his mental prowess before luring you into his ivory tower for a quickie.
Just be warned: a quickie’s all you get with Mars in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is famous for its bachelor-loving tendencies, and Mars isn’t big on long-term commitments either. As long as you enjoy the sparks while they last, you’ll get the physical and mental satisfaction you’re looking for.
