Aries Relationships
Early born Aries may find that the influence of independent Uranus causes friction in key one-on-one relationships from May 29 – August 14. As the desire to go your own way strengthens, your desire to honor relationship commitments lessens. Those relationships that do adapt to this energy are those that take on radically different forms to honor your emerging needs for greater freedom.
Saturn is in your opposite sign, and partnership zone, until October 2012. This period in Saturn’s thirty year cycle helps you view other people realistically and take responsibility for your role in the way significant relationships develop. Saturn offers you a relationship reality check, showing you the ways in which hard work and effort are needed to create longevity in partnerships. Those relationships in which you’re prepared to dig in and honor your commitments have true lasting potential.
Saturn’s qualities of responsibility, maturity and practicality come to bear on your heart as you review primary partnerships and formalise your commitment – or not, as the case may be – to significant others. The structure of your life alters now to honor the presence of those to whom you are willing to commit. Saturn is about old news, and his passage through your relationship sector helps you address simmering issues to create better foundations between yourself and key partners. However Saturn manifests for you, his influence ensures that by year’s end your approach to and understanding of one-on-one partnerships has matured. You become more adult in the way you relate to others. This area of life relates to both intimate one-on-one partnerships as well as key professional/business partnerships.
Taurus Relationships
Your ruler Venus spends about six weeks every 18 months or so moving backwards. Her current star-shaped retrograde pattern – Venus’ retrograde cycles trace out a magical five-pointed star in the heavens over an eight year period – means that every eight years, your love life undergoes an intense examination. 2010’s Venus retrograde falls in your relationship zone, echoing your romantic experiences from October/November 2002.
As Venus backtracks through your relationship sector, in your opposite sign, from October 8 – November 18, you’ll ask more intimate questions of yourself and those with whom you’re closely connected. Hidden desires or secret feelings may come to light as you take the focus off relationship progress and instead get curious about exploring the deeper undercurrents of relationships. Ask yourself what your true motivations are. Question why you want what you do. Notice where you repeat romantic patterns and catch yourself before you slip into old habits.
Some of your relationship patterns are authentic and serve to meet your needs; others have developed through self-protective conditioning. Gemini Relationships
The relationships you have and the work you do are inextricably linked, with powerful Jupiter ruling over both areas of life. Jupiter is strong in 2010, as strong as he was in 2007, and even though his major focus this year (and yours in turn) is work rather than partnership, you will notice better quality relationship opportunities. Single or attached, you’re more confident about making partnership choices, more trusting of the innate goodness in those around you and more likely to find yourself filled with joy at the growth in close relationships.
Passionate Mars fires up your relationship sector from October 28 – December 7, his first visit here since November/December 2008. Mars brings energy, enthusiasm and confidence into all your relationships, helping you take the initiative and move into a new phase. You’ll be decisive and determined about getting what you want; some partners will enjoy your assertiveness, others may find it over the top. Mars symbolizes passion, and you’ll be more inclined to initiate intimacy now. Significant others provide fuel for your fire, motivating you to tackle your goals and challenges. This may be a time of increased friction (Mars brings heat of all kinds) in key one-on-one partnerships, but it’ll also be a time of heightened forward momentum.
Cancer Relationships
You end 2010 with a relationship bang, as sexy Mars joins intense Pluto in your partnership zone. Relationships have been moving into new territory since 2007, when Pluto settled in for an extended stay in your opposite sign. Pluto brings transformation and deep profound change. Pluto also offers the chance to explore new, deeper levels of intimacy. This year, the fated North Node joins Pluto in your relationship sector, highlighting just how important partnerships are now for your evolution. Mars in your partnership zone from December 7 – January 16, 2011 promises to be your most dynamic relationship period all year. You’ll have more confidence dealing with others then. Key partners motivate you. Passion is part of Mars’ symbolism, so expect things to heat up as well. It could mean added friction, but it’s equally possible you’ll explore new forms of sexual intimacy. Relationships you’ve outgrown – either one-on-one business or personal partnerships – are best ended, and the sooner the better. Relationships that offer true depth and life-changing intimacy are the ones you want. You are ready for meeting soul mates as you find superficial connections less than satisfying.
Two eclipses energize your partnership zone in 2010. January 15’s New Moon eclipse ushers in a brand new cycle of relationships. Past karma is easily cleared as your heart looks forward rather than back. Key mentors may fade into the background, offering you a sample of their legacy as they do. June 26’s Full Moon eclipse reminds you of the importance of balance in partnership. Anything that has been unconscious about close relationships is revealed under the light of this Full Moon. Leo Relationships
Jupiter filled your Seventh House of Relationships in 2009, and it’s mostly the absence of this over-the-top force you’ll notice in 2010. Spiritual Neptune continues to energize your relationship zone; he’s been here since 1998, setting a longer term astrological energetic trend. Younger readers won’t know any other kind of relationship style than the selfless style offered by Neptune. This is your last full year of Neptune in the Seventh; 2011 heralds the end of an era as Neptune moves into the next sign and out of your relationship zone. All Leos will notice a significant shift in focus and needs around relationships as this occurs.
For 2010, it’s a case of making the most of Neptune while it lasts. Neptune’s highest relationship potential is that of an intuitive, inspired partnership based on a shared sense of spirituality and community. Neptune asks you to find compassion for the significant others in your life; to share your dreams with them but to maintain a sense of realism through the process. Those of you who have experienced blurred lines between romantic reality and idealized fantasy may need to redress the balance this year, before the rose-colored glasses come off permanently in 2011.
A new cycle of relating begins with the New Moon on February 14. Venus in this zone from January 18 – February 11 helps close partnerships become more affectionate, and is one of your best periods all year for love and romance. Mercury here from March 1 – 17 supports clear communication between yourself and others.
Virgo Relationships
Uranus has occupied your opposite sign and solar relationship sector since March 2003. Under this transit, old and established patterns of relating have come undone as Uranus offered you the chance to experiment. One-on-one partnerships of all kinds have electrified, surprised and confronted you as you stepped off the traditional relationship path and into unknown territory. Relationships have perhaps been more chaotic than you prefer, but they have also been full of soulfulness, inspiration and spontaneous connection.
Uranus briefly exits your relationship zone from June 7 – September 10, giving you a glimpse of your relationship future. Through that period expect to see more stability return to your relationships: this is a taste of what’s to come when Uranus leaves this sector for good in March 2011. Until then, continue experimenting and challenging the status quo in relationships!
Lucky Jupiter also energizes your relationship space in 2010. Jupiter is about growth, and his cycle highlights an important area of life. For you, Virgo, that’s relationships in 2010. You can expect an abundance of opportunities to connect with significant others from January 19 – June 7 and September 10 – January 22, 2011. Single or attached, you’ll certainly get more attention this year. It’s a great time to develop business relationships, too. Single Virgos have celestial support helping them find a like-minded mate; attached Virgos get a lot out of putting more into their relationship with a significant other. Great learning, growth and new perspectives come to you through key mentors and partners this year.
Libra Relationships
Relationships are one of your biggest areas of growth and change in 2010. With unpredictable Uranus giving you a taste of the future under his temporary visit here from May 29 – August 14, anything is possible in key partnerships. Uranus’ calling card is freedom, and his visit (which returns in 2011) through your opposite sign helps you find alternative ways to build relationships that honor both your commitment to your significant other(s) as well as your individual journey. Stagnant partnerships (personal or professional) get a shake-up under Uranus as the relating status quo changes.
Lucky Jupiter also fills your Seventh House of Relationships in 2010, from June 7 – September 10. Under Jupiter’s influence, opportunities to expand close partnerships are abundant. You’ll get plenty of attention from potential partners; singles love the extra opportunities to date, and attached Librans enjoy the confidence boost. Jupiter will be back in your relationship zone in 2011, too.
With two new but teaser-style planetary archetypes energizing your relationship zone in 2010, you’ll find that the days of safe, comfortable relationship patterns are over. New styles of relating need to explored, as you find yourself restless with relationship routines. You’ll settle into more steady patterns of relationship growth and experimentation in 2011, but the middle of 2010 shows you just what’s possible in your relationship life. Seeking traditional or conventional partnerships no longer satisfies you, so take a leap of faith and do something wild or different with your significant others this year.
Scorpio Relationships
You have two planetary retrogrades that highlight a ‘review, reconsider, recommit’ energy in relationships in 2010.
Communication planet Mercury has an extra long visit to your Seventh House of Relationships from April 2 – June 10. This is unusual and highlights the importance of clear communication in significant one-on-one partnerships (both business and personal) this year. Mercury also spends part of this time retrograde (moving in reverse) from April 18 – May 11. Under the influence of Mercury’s retrograde your, ability to express yourself clearly to others may be impacted. Mercury’s retrograde also brings into sharp focus the ‘review, reconsider, recommit’ relationship theme that is dominant for you this year.
You may have to repeat yourself to make sure that those around you understand your true meaning. It’s normal to question relationships through a Mercury retrograde, but rest assured – the higher than usual number of misunderstandings and crossed wires now won’t last. Instead, they help you find new and more authentic ways to connect with loved ones. Avoid your tendency to stubbornly resist change; this year’s strong Mercury/Seventh House themes can help you find even better ways to understand those you’re in partnership with and in turn be understood better by them.
The other major period of ‘review, reconsider, recommit’ is during Venus’ retrograde, which takes place in your sign from October 8 – November 18. Your values and desires in relationship come into question as you realize you no longer want what you used to want. Your affection and love needs are changing, so be alive to the new ways in which others may give to you. The ways in which you show affection are also evolving, so try something different rather than sticking to familiar patterns and routines. Relationships may feel uncomfortable under Venus retrograde – which is a sign of your need to find new depth, honesty and intimacy with the special others in your life. Venus then turns around and moves forward through your sign in December and January 2011, helping you express new expectations and find fresh ways to be close to loved ones.
Sagittarius Relationships
Your relationship sector is one of the quietest in 2010. That said, the strong energetic influences from Jupiter and Uranus in your creativity zone will bring lots of fun and romance into your life. Mercury and Venus both lend their light to your relationship sector, offering fresh connections, clear communication and opportunities for romance.
Venus here from April 25 – May 20 brings sweetness and the desire for togetherness. You have a flighty streak, but under Venus you’re open to compromise and are prepared to work together with someone. It’s easy to be generous with loved ones now, as you feel that affection is a two-way street.
Mercury, your personal relationship planet, visits from June 10 – 25, boosting communication between yourself and others. You have what seems like a sixth sense when it comes to understanding what those around you need. You’re also better able to express your needs to them. Curiosity about others helps you initiate those important conversations, and ensures that nothing significant is left unsaid. Singles enjoy flirtatious connections and couples have fun reconnecting.
Capricorn Relationships
The past is hard to escape in relationships this year, as the fated South Node brings reminders of how things once were. While some Capricorns may pine for days gone by, most of you use reflections on past relationships/partners as opportunities to learn and grow. Eclipses in your relationship sector on June 26 and July 12 open doors for different partnership experiences. You get a glimpse of your relationship future and it looks good.
The New Moon eclipse on July 12 is particularly potent in terms of energizing your love life. This eclipse belongs to an eclipse family linked to creating happy endings in longer term issues. Stay positive about relationship possibilities under these mid-year eclipses – it’s easy to mistake change for challenge when that’s unlikely to be the case. Many Capricorns finally bury the ghosts of relationships past, creating a clear love slate. Significant relationship choices are likely to manifest around the eclipse dates. The hands of fate wave their magic wand over your heart then, helping you make partnership choices based on future happiness rather then past fears.
Venus visits your relationship zone from May 20 – June 14, adding extra fun, romance and affection to your love life. Singles enjoy extra opportunities to meet potential partners. Attached Capricorns make quality time with their partner a priority and are all the happier for it.
Aquarius Relationships
Passion planet Mars ends his ongoing retrograde influence in your relationship sector on March 10. Since Mars’ retrograde began (December 20, 2009) it’s been a case of ‘two steps forward, one step back’ where love, partnerships and romance are concerned. Single or attached, things have been on, off, then on again, with delays and crossed wires causing extra tension. While reconnecting may be passionate, you may also find cracks appearing in your closest partnerships.
Mars is about desire, wants and direction, and his retrograde influence in your relationship sector (and opposite sign) is rare and potent. Lingering frustrations with significant others become big issues as you lose the ability to ignore what bothers you. You may have a short fuse whilst Mars is retrograde, but you’re also more honest in your dealings with others. Addressing whatever it is that doesn’t satisfy you is easier, too. Relationships may seem tense through this period as you’re more inclined to make some noise about what bothers you.
By mid-March, Mars is back on track, helping you make solid forward progress with the significant people in your life. The Sun brings his light into your relationship zone from July 23 – August 23, which is a positive time for relationships and connecting with others. You’ll reap the rewards then of relationship changes you make through the first three months of the year.
Pisces Relationships
Serious Saturn has moved through your relationship sector since September 2007, challenging you to set boundaries in close relationships. You’ve had to mature and find inner strength to say no when it was the right choice. Both personal and professional partnerships have been redefined through this period. Saturn finishes his once in thirty years visit to your relationship sector in July. Until then, stick to your boundaries. Challenges may have been a part of your recent relationship history – mostly to help you see the ways in which relationships were and weren’t supporting you.
Saturn rules time, and under his influence major relationships end or change direction and significant new ones begin. Commitment is a focus. As you realize the true meaning of what committing to another person means, you then question whether you have made the right commitment to the right person. Saturn then helps you make whatever adjustments are necessary to ensure your relationships are solid and based on practical, real commitment.
