November 9: Venus sextile Pluto
How deep is my love? Deeper than the deepest ocean. How many ways do I love you? More than there are grains of sand on the beach. How deeply do I love you? Deeper than the machete plunged into my chest. Jeez, Scorpio and Capricorn take everything so seriously…

Machete! Haha. But, yes, am feeling super lovey-dovey
.
I don’t get it! Are you trying to be cynical, sarcastic, funny or what? “Jeez, Scorpio and Capricorn take everything so seriously…” don’t be so naive, I (as a Scorpio) can certainly sing “Opps I did it again!” and play around and be practical… water is not just for drowning! Maybe your poor knowledge of people makes you think that… I feel so sorry for you Mr. Currie.
And is your response to a humorous 49-word general forecast a parody of an overly-serious Scorpio/Capricorn attitude? ‘Cause if it is… it’s pretty funny, if a bit clichéd. And you’re right, of course… you won’t find a lot of light and fluffy descriptions of Venus in Scorpio or Pluto in Capricorn. Too much experience based on observation of those placements has probably ruined astrologers senses of humor about them.
I hear Jeffrey’s looking for writers. Send him a sample! You could be the one who sets the rest of the astrological community straight!
Hi Mar, I tend to be a bit partial to Scorpio energy.
I just read this thread and there’s no denying that you reacted to the forecast in an intense way. The Daily Sky is both informative and funny, I keep that in mind when I read it. It never disappoints.
By reacting perhaps a bit seriously you’re validating what’s written above, “Scorpios takes everything so seriously…”
Yeah, they do: that’s why they rock
Thanks to both of you for, in very different ways, backing me up.
Wow! I can not believe you have taken the time to reply to my comment you “Facebook User”, I assume I just hit your EGO in some way, and I am really enjoying it. I am not an astrologer, I am an Anthropologist and work as an Anthropologist in sociology research so for the time being, no formal knowledge or interest at all in writing for Jeffrey’s new blog but I appreciate your suggestion, thank you.
And NR, my comment is not a reaction to “this” single piece of Mr. Currie’s writing, it was just an excuse, an opportunity to express my discomfort. After all, Sasstrology has allowed “comments” on its posts and everyone is entitled to do so. I had read some of his articles, and I have found too much negativity about every single sign. He twisted much of the characteristics and presents them as bad aspects, or simply bad characteristics to mock about. And in my opinion, I think astrology has the chance to point out the potential of the signs for living a pleasant life even if there are any Quincunx! And I think that not because I´d be a “glittery” and pink Libra. I am a Scorpio, with my Moon in Aries… I guess that´s not so glittery. Also I have read Mr. Currie’s blog in Astrology.com and his 12 descriptions of the signs of the western Astrology are so limited to his apparently poor experience with woman. No, not all the vast mayority of Scorpio women will fall to their suicidal instincts.
You must think why I don’t stop reading his posts… well, because I can, and maybe because I have Mercury in Scorpio, but I will give it a try.
Mar: I think it’s pretty obvious that the vast majority of any sign doesn’t commit suicide. That was a true story drawn from my personal experience… as all twelve of those entries were. It illustrated some of the “universal” Scorpio principles, but also honored the individual… which is exactly what any astrologer (or any human) should do.
That, and an astrologer who is always “love and light” about everything would be as useless… and in many cases, WORSE than useless… as a physician whose only advice in all cases is to “get more exercise.” Perfect contentment with canned spaghetti every night doesn’t drive anyone to become a chef… and perfect satisfaction with one’s understanding of the human condition wouldn’t compel someone to become a sociologist either, I suspect.
Have a click on a few of the “Recent Comments” on the right side of the page here, today or any day. It’s obviously NOT rampant positivity that drives an interest in astrology, any more than it’s happy, shiny fitness models who drive an interest in medicine.
Also, apparently you’ve read my stuff, more than once. Somehow, it appears, I’ve done my job. Even if you managed to not see the delight I also took in the charms of each of the twelve signs, and (more importantly) the individual women representing them.
Yes Mr.Currie you have done your Job and got many people´s attention. Myself included. As you point out an Astrologer who is always “love and light” about everything would be useless. But also, I truly believe than an Astrologer that twists and mocks about everything is going towards the same path. I don’t see how to show the potential for living a pleasant life becomes rampant positivity… but may you, who apparently chose to see the dark side of everything first, and above the rest, see it more straightforward than me.
I am not sorry if I disturb you in any way. Do you take time to answer all the comments? I am glad I caught your attention, and maybe you can see the point of view of someone who is not passionately admired and amazed by your writing style about Astrology. You are after all publishing your work publicly and this means not everyone has to like what you write. But don’t worry I will not do it again, I will not comment here at least I have something to say to “back up” your words.
It is always much better to be in a party full of mirrors… so they say.
By “twisting,” I assume you mean “bending the truth of an issue to back a preconceived notion.” And by “mocking,” I assume you mean “deriding astrology and/or people because of an inherent dislike of either/both.” I don’t believe I’ve done that… and you are the first person to say that I do. I do appreciate the fresh perspective though, even if I don’t agree with it.
In fact, I think if you have a dig through my writing you’ll find a lot of things that are both unabashedly positive:
http://matthewastrology.blogspot.com/2007/11/transits-awaiting-divine-hammer-blow.html
…and deathly serious:
http://matthewastrology.blogspot.com/2009/03/is-compatibility-always-good-thing.html
…Not to mention the Scorpio entry you mentioned that I wrote at Astrology.com, which is the most painfully, personally serious thing I’ve ever written.
(Yes, those were invitations to read my work further. And please buy my e-books — http://conquertheuniversewithastrology.com/ — they have a lot of good cheer and seriousness in them too, at times.)
Your main concern here now seems to be that somehow having people reading my work has inflated my ego. I can assure you, it remains as damaged as ever, which is what (in my experience) drives the majority of people who write for a living. And when writers gets too satisfied with themselves, their work usually starts to suck. Based on your response, thankfully, that doesn’t appear to have happened. Yet. But, you let me know, okay?
