Weekend Forecast: July 3-5
July 3, 2009 by Jeffrey Kishner
The Moon is in Sagittarius all of July 4 weekend, so the bombastic fireworks will be an appropriate expression of our buoyant feelings during this holiday. (And if you’re Canadian, you already had yours on July 1, so please read Matthew Currie if you’re feeling neglected.) Mercury also enters patriotic (or at least home- and homeland-centric) Cancer on Friday, focusing our thoughts on matters of family and country. Our mind is influenced by our emotions when the messenger planet is in this sign, so do not be surprised if you react defensively when a Canadian badmouths the good ol’ U S of A. (Not that any of them would. I mean, Sasstrology has two Canadian writers, and they are just peaches and cream!)
Unfortunately, things get ugly on Saturday when Mercury opposes deep and dark Pluto. (And technically, they’ve already been ugly, depending on whether you honor out-of-sign conjunctions with a ten degree orb.) Pluto roots out all the unpleasant thoughts we’ve been having, and since these planets are in a “relationship aspect” (180 degrees), someone else may root out compromising information about us. Or maybe a Canadian will dig up some dirt about the US and publicize it on cbc.ca.
Sunday morning, Venus enters Gemini. If you already have a boyfriend, remember that two is always better than one.
But seriously. The love planet in the sign of the twins is distracted by all the candy in the candyshop, and has difficulty focusing on just one sweet at a time. Venus just wants to flirt frequently and enjoy banter for its own sake. There is no room for jealousy or possessiveness while she’s in this sign.
As an aside: Now that we have a competent President, I’m actually proud to be an American. (Not there’s anything wrong those folks north of the border…)
