The astrology of cheating: Uranus and Neptune transits
March 24, 2009 by Fern Feto Spring
“The Astrology of Cheating” is a two-part series by Fern Feto Spring. The first installment concerned natal chart factors that correspond with infidelity.
So your normally grounded, practical, faithful, earthy and maybe-just-a-little-boring Taurus partner seems to be sniffing around someone else’s skirts (or pants)? Chances are they’re having some kind of pesky outer planet transit that’s leaving them feeling a need to explore, expand, and experiment in love and romance. Though any of the outer planet transits can bring changes in relationships, the influence of Uranus and Neptune are the ones that are the most likely to lead to extracurricular dalliances in love and sex.
Keeping It Interesting
Uranus is the trickster extraordinaire of the zodiac, and this planet likes to shake us up, excite us, and generally blow our circuits. When Uranus comes around to activate our Venus or Mars (and even our Sun and Moon), or begins a round in one of our relationship houses (5th, 7th and 8th), we will be looking for new and unexplored territory in love. Change is the word, and change we will. So if your sweetie is having a Uranus transit, the old cliché “keep things interesting” may be particularly true during this time. If you value your relationship and have the juice to try and stir things up, now is the time to re-energize it. This is not to say that you need to run out to the local sex toy shop and stock up, or try new and untried sexual positions, though either of those actions could be what is called for. When you or your partner are under the influence of Uranus, the most important thing to remember is to put attention and time into keeping things interesting. For your particular relationship, this could mean anything. It’s important to gauge what is really interesting, exciting and freeing to both of you, and take steps in that direction, rather than doing what is supposed to be “different,” kinky or interesting to others or the culture at large. Uranus relates to outside-the-box, unusual and unique behavior and actions. What may be weird and different to one individual is not going to be that interesting to another. So the more truthful you can be (honesty being another Uranian quality), the better. Experiment, explore and get free together, rather than having your honey do it without you. Uranus is a strong and powerful force, and thrives on creating chaos, so pay attention when this planet comes to play, and you may find yourself having a most excellent time rather than becoming a casualty of the Uranian electric storm.
Spirit in the Bedroom
Neptune transiting over the sensitive relationship points of the chart (Venus, Mars and the relationship houses), can cause us to want “more” in relationship. More romance, more fantasy, more love … we just want, well … more. Neptune dreams and drifts, washing over us and smoothing out the rough edges, taking us away from grim reality. When we feel Neptune influencing us in relationships, we may become confused about what we want and be more open to fudging the truth in order to maintain the steady drug of fantasy that keeps us going. Neptune’s higher purpose is to bring us closer to our own divinity and the spiritual essence of life. This is a planet that wants us to develop a greater connection with spirit and the divine. When Neptune comes to us by transit in the realm of relationship, we may literally strive to feel god through sex or love. Neptune makes us willing to do literally anything in order to maintain a connection with someone who seems to promise us a sense of spiritual connection, regardless of whether or not they can really deliver. So if Neptune is currently making a watery influence in your partner’s chart, this is the time to get dreamy in love. Recapture the romance, plan a magical adventure, spin a web of enchantment around your lover. Now is when you want to try and create a fairy tale for the two of you to live out. This could mean instigating a creative project that the two of you share and collaborate on, as Neptune thrives in the creative realms, particularly with film and photography. Or you may want to take a trip to the ocean together, spending time daydreaming by the sea. Use your imagination and inspiration to create a cocoon of Neptunian goodness, and watch your partner relax and enjoy, as there will no longer be any need to escape from reality with someone else when they can find magic within the bounds of your relationship instead.
