I’ve been too lazy to do Academy Award predictions this year, but fortunately many astrology bloggers have taken on the task. Here is a roundup I’ve gathered from the web:
At The Astrology of Culture blog on astrology.com, Eric Meyers provides an analysis of what was going on in the heavens on the release date of Benjamin Button, and offers these observations about the chance of Brad Pitt winning an award:
On oscar night (2/22/09) transiting Venus is conjunct his Jupiter in Aries, while Mars in Aquarius is approaching his Saturn in Aquarius. These may activate his attunement to social issues (Jupiter/Saturn), but at least to me, astrology is not so rigidly predictive. His progressed Moon recently crossed his Midheaven, so his needs for recognition will be acute.
The astrological activity to Heath Ledger’s chart … seems more dazzling on this night. I would be surprised if he doesn’t win Best Supporting Actor. The astrology for Benjamin Button is quite interesting, while Brad Pitt will probably be really pining for his Oscar, however much he puts up a stoic face.

Transiting Venus will be at 12 degrees Aries sextile Jupiter/Mars/Mercury/Moon in the middle degrees of Aquarius. All of these planets will be in major aspect to Ledger’s Sun at 13 Aries. The transiting Sun will be in early Pisces on his Venus, another indication that he’ll be getting a gift. Furthermore, transiting Saturn will be on his Virgo North Node. This goes along with recognition for his body of work, to be raised to a position of stature among his peers.

Astrocelebrities.com provides an astrological profile of Anne Hathaway, and compares her chances for winning Best Acress against Kate Winslet:
So is she going to win an Oscar? Looking at the transits and progressions in both hers and Kate Winslet’s chart it seems that Kate has the edge. But it is a very fine edge! Anne has a lot of her progressed planets in Sagittarius, including her Sun, whilst her progressed Moon is back in Libra and almost conjuncting the natal degree. Fortune is smiling on her. Without the exact birth time is is difficult to be accurate. Transiting Uranus trines her natal Jupiter just over two week prior to Oscar night, but isn’t really enough to swing it for her.
Kate has transiting Jupiter trining her Pluto, Moon, Sun, Ascendant conjunction in Libra in the days prior to and after Oscar night. With her progressed Sun in Scorpio and progressed Moon in Capricorn she may be about to rewarded for her hard work and dedication. I haven’t checked out Meryl Streep or Angelina Jolie yet – so they may be even better placed.
