Weekly Love and Sex Horoscope: March 3-9
March 3, 2008 by kishner
On Tuesday, Mars enters Cancer, where he will stay until May 9. The planet of action and sexual desire was previously in this sensitive sign last Fall, and turned retrograde at 12 Cancer, moving backwards into Gemini. If you have any planets or angles in the first 12 degrees of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn), Mars will be making his third pass over these points. If issues concerning assertion and desire came up for you between October and December, Mars’ transit through Cancer will offer some resolution, a sense of closure.
Mars is in its “fall” in Cancer. A no-holds-barred planet in a defensive, sideways-moving sign is not happy. You can best use this energy towards Cancerian endeavors, such as working on home-improvement projects. Invest your energy in family now — you can paint the town gold when Mars enters Leo in a few months!
On Thursday, Venus conjoins Neptune. The love planet is lost in idealism and fantasy, dreaming of the perfect mate. If you are in a new relationship, you may see no wrong with your partner, as the clouds of delusion mask his or her inadequacies. Overall, you are in a romantic mood, but seduction may occur at a distance, as both Venus and Neptune are in Aquarius. Beware of online dating sites, as appearances will be deceiving, and people may not be who they say they are. However, you may fall head over heels with someone at a gathering of friends or a group activity.
Mars opposes Pluto on Friday. This is the third “hit” of this transit due to Mars’ retrograde motion into Gemini. The previous oppositions occurred on September 21 and January 2. In addition to resolving the themes that appeared during the first two passes, this final opposition is more powerful because both planets are in the first degree of the cardinal signs Cancer and Capricorn. (Previously they were in the late degrees of Gemini and Sagittarius). Cardinal signs correspond with major shifts — the equinoxes and solstices — and when a planet enters a cardinal sign, its energies are strong.
Mars and Pluto are both aggressive and sexual planets — Mars on a personal level, and Pluto on a transpersonal level. Pluto is the force of biology and evolution, and brings on destruction in order to bring life to a higher level of organization. However, Pluto also releases the darkness of whatever planet it aspects, and in the case of Mars, the Lord of Underworld unleashes its primal instincts — which are to rape and pillage. On a global level, this aspect may correspond with ugly acts of violence. Friday also features a New Moon in Pisces tightly conjunct Uranus, the Awakener — adding a level of unpredictability to the mix. The highest manifestation of this energy can be the use of one’s will and ambition to effect powerful change with the help of an illuminated vision. But I always like to keep an eye on the bad stuff.

Thanks for providing an explanation for the highest manifestation of the Mars Pluto opposition. I find it awful how much attention is given to the negative side of this aspect and am tired of reading about it on other sites.
The Mars Saturn opposition in my personal nativity is not entirely favorable as well. Would the stern and stabilizing influence of Saturn affect a man’s physical and sexual exuberance in such a case.
@tony, Saturn can add control and restraint, or the these very qualities can become fetishized.
As the word “fetish” is understood to indicate a personal preference of magnified importance, then do you mean that the influence of a Saturn opposition indicates magnification of a personal preference?
I would appreciate a quoted text from another astrology source to back up your premise, as it is an interesting one and worthy of mention, and one which I have not yet been exposed to.
Thank you kindly for your prompt response to my query, Jeffrey.
@Tony, I am simply saying that the presence of Saturn-Mars can relate to the sexualization of control and restraint.
And I am not going to back myself up with another astrology source.
“I would appreciate a quoted text from another astrology source to back up your premise”
Tony, do you really think asking Jeffrey if he is full of s*** in a tactful manner will make up for the authoritative and demanding tone you have? He doesn’t have to give you a “prompt” response for anything. He’s not your bitch, and I don’t imagine you have him on your payroll.
@fallen-astro-angel, I would normally delete a comment that includes profanity, but I’m so happy to have read your comment
…Jeffrey, you ROCK, I and my friends have bookmarked your site! This Capricorn is wondering if “tony” is a Scorpio, Leo Aries or Taurus, for the obvious reasons, heh.
Thanks, Anonymous, for spreading the word
Interesting.
@Jeffrey: I know I was going a little far. But, frankly, I was pissed.
I think I’m still pretty pissed.
OMG yes, I am definitely still pissed.
Oh, and I actually thought I might get in really big trouble for that comment, so I’m glad you’re not mad at me.
Indeed. Very interesting.
@Tony @TUU, Please just be out with whatever you’re holding back. “Interesting” sounds like a judgment.
@fallen-astro-angel, I’m sure I let you get away with profanity because you took my side. I’m not a perfectly impartial human being.
to me it is pretty clear and indeed logical. this is how i see what is meant anyway – the mars opposition to saturn can be constraining or it can magnify preference for CONTROL and delayed gratification, maybe being dommed i donno, this isnt to say all preferences in general of course.
It’s not that important so never mind.
hey what r u doing
