Gemini woman with Aquarius on the cusp of her empty Seventh House

October 4, 2007 by Jeffrey Kishner

Bis provided a birth time for the empty Seventh House case study (click chart to view) and writes,

i always HAVE wondered about this seriously. if u have no planets in seventh house what does this mean for relationships, i am worried bc im very emotionally self sustaining as it is, a little too too. i need to know whats up so i can plan ahead.

As a Gemini woman with Leo Rising, you have a typically bright and sunny disposition, craving both stimulation (Gemini) and attention (Leo). You’re happy being in the spotlight. That is, until someone gets close to you. Then your secretive Scorpio Moon in your Fourth House of Home kicks in, turning off the front porch light and refusing to answer the door.

Opposite your Leo Ascendant sits Aquarius on the cusp of your Seventh House of Partnership. Aquarius is all that Leo is not: detached, objective, observing from afar. You may be drawn to a man (or woman, but I’ll use the masculine pronoun from now on) who is able to put his emotions aside and look at life from a bird’s eye view. Aquarius is the sign of the scientist and the rabble-rouser, the activist and the inventor.

This egalitarian sign on your Descendant suggests that freedom, independence and equality are qualities you need in a relationship. Being lorded over or controlled by a spouse would evoke your impulse to run out and spend the night with your friends. (The Sun — which symbolizes important men in a woman’s chart — in your Eleventh House of Friends and Groups strengthens this Aquarian quality in relationships.)

Aquarius has two planetary rulers: Saturn and Uranus. These planets are opposites in their own way, as Saturn represents the structure and authority against which Uranus rebels. Traditionally, Saturn ruled Aquarius. Upon Uranus’ discovery in the 18th century, astrologers started to associate it with this sign, as both Uranus and Aquarius value the Individual and are known for being unpredictable.

As a modern astrologer, I look at both rulers of Aquarius, but I have been leaning towards using the traditional ruler as the significator of the Seventh House cusp. Fortunately, both Saturn and Uranus in your chart are both in Sagittarius and in your Fifth House, so I don’t have to decide (but more on that later…).

When the ruler of your Seventh House is in your Fifth House, you want your partner to be your playmate. The Fifth House governs creativity, children, procreation, play, gambling, dating … sex for the fun of it! A relationship would inspire your creativity, and having kids would probably be important, unless you were an artiste who’d rather contribute to society with her screenplays than by raising a few brats.

These planets’ placement in Sagittarius suggests an attraction to an optimistic and adventurous, sporty but brainy guy — or that the fun you have with your spouse would have to feel meaningful in some way.

More information about what you seek in a partner can be gleaned from the aspects Saturn and Uranus make to other planets, notably Saturn opposite Sun, and Uranus square Jupiter. But that’s enough for one day, don’t you think? Maybe someone can delineate these aspects in the comments section.
