Help me reduce sidebar clutter

September 19, 2007 by kishner

Widgets slow down page loading time, and can clutter up a blog … but what can I say? I’m a widget junkie!

However, I’m sure there are thingamabobs on my sidebars that are not necessary for a good user experience. So … would you please complete this poll and let me know what you truly value on the sidebars?

    (OK..bear in mind I’m a baby-boomer.)
what the heck is a widget??

  2. Karen says:

seriously–since I don’t know what you’re talking about unless it’s astrology itself, I don’t even know what sexy-bloggers are, let alone more of them.;-)
But I can say I like seeing the links to related blogs and topics, if that’s useful.
It’s always good to have for reference.
Mostly I appreciate the comments from others and from you.

@karen, widgets are basically boxes with flashing lights and gizmos. Anything on the sidebar that’s not an ad or a link.
