Orienting Newbies to the Blog
I’m considering writing an introductory page to Seduction Central, because someone arriving for the first time with a question about Taurus-Sag compatibility might feel overwhelmed when she starts reading about transiting Saturn square Venus.
Can you help me out? Please address these questions in the comments section:
- What was your first impression when you visited this blog?
- How long did it take for you to “catch on”?
- How long did it take for you to become a fan (if you are one)?
- What’s confusing about the site navigation, and how can I improve it?
- Would it help if I had some graphic to alert readers to the level of astrological complexity in different posts, like “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” “Advanced”?

* What was your first impression when you visited this blog?
Catchy post titles. Lots of information jammed in together (the layout). I felt like there was so much to read/explore and worried that I would never get to it all (a good thing). Was hard to find articles based on the sun sign I was interested in (although, that has changed since I first started reading).
* How long did it take for you to “catch on”?
About a week.
* How long did it take for you to become a fan (if you are one)?
After reading the first post.
* What’s confusing about the site navigation, and how can I improve it?
I like the way we can navigate by signs as subject, but what about being able to search through archives by date?
* Would it help if I had some graphic to alert readers to the level of astrological complexity in different posts, like “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” “Advanced”?
YES!!!! Great idea.
BlahBlah, at the very bottom of the left sidebar, you can browse archives by month. Hope that helps!
1. The colors! Then I started reading and just couldn’t stop.
The blog explaining comprehensibly human relationships, with great insight and a dab of “psychology for dummies”, also pointing to the astrological indicators in a very unobtrusive manner.
I thought that it was written in a style that is attractive to both – people who are simply interested in understanding people, as well as die-hard astrology enthusiasts.
There’s also that tiny detail that got my devotion – patience and grace in handling questions like “how do I seduce married (…)”.
I admire it, because I don’t think I could ever even pretend to be that objective (and avoid responding with caps lock).
2. Hm.. Immediately?
3. Since the very first post I read.
4. The only problem is that it’s highly detailed. Everything is already here, but because of complexity it may take some time to get used to it.
I was also thinking about labels to describe different types of posts. Something to differentiate between advices in concrete situations from more general information (like posts about planets in signs and aspects in natal charts).
Though, maybe it’d only make the navigation even more difficult to comprehend.
5. Yep, definitely.
Recently I’ve been having problems with posting comments, so I hope this one will appear!
1. it was nice to see alot of information! i spent a couple of hours just looking at the site and reading everything.
2. i’m still trying to catch on…i’m completely new to this astrology/sign stuff.
3. i’m a fan but would like to be able to become a better informed fan…i have no idea what you mean when you start talking about houses in the 6th, or sag venus in the scorpio…
5. i would like a beginner/med/advanced section…for someone who is very new and knows nothing about it…it would be nice to have some help in learning about it and explanations so i too know what sag means when she says she’s in the 5th house to whatever! lol. you get my meaning. and also how do you get your questions answered…is there a charge? i would like info on sag w/ scorpio male…how do i go about doing that?
Anonymous, There’s no charge for answers given on the blog.
* What was your first impression when you visited this blog?
Interesting. Caught my attention right away. Wasn’t a “story” of someone’s view on a certain sign (thats where the comments and forum come in). Just facts and wits.
* How long did it take for you to “catch on”?
A while.
* How long did it take for you to become a fan (if you are one)?
Instantly once I caught on.
* What’s confusing about the site navigation, and how can I improve it?
Just the ads everywhere. It’s a bit clusttered.
* Would it help if I had some graphic to alert readers to the level of astrological complexity in different posts, like “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” “Advanced”?
No, I don’t think so.
Jeff, before I answer and i shall, just not now—(because it’s after 6 am, haven’t slept yet, and am in a *lot* of pain physically)—how long did it take us to catch on to *what* exactly?
proserpine — what do I mean by “catch on”? When you “got” the blog … it’s sensibility, voice, astrological sophistication (:P) …
Any feedback on layout re: the ads is welcome — I still want to keep them “above the fold” (visible so a reader doesn’t have to scroll down) but I am willing to move things around to an extent.
Jeff, I still don’t see the archives by month. There’s nothing but space at the bottom of the left sidebar…
Jara, the archives are definitely on the “home” page but are not on the permalink pages for specific blog posts. Frankly I don’t know how to tweak the html in my blogger template to make that show on all the pages.
tell them to try using the searchbar
ah duh?
