Does this blog’s title make me sound easy?

June 14, 2007 by kishner

I recall how I came up with the title ‘Seduction Central.’ I liked the alliterative touch. The blog attracts readers trying to seduce Scorpio men, so the title is apt.

But ‘Seduction Central’ sounds like one of those websites where you pay $99 to learn how to pick up women in three easy steps. Some serious, sober astrologers whom I respect won’t link to this blog because it has a cheesy name (Lunar Tunes doesn’t?). However, I still like the name. It’s kinda provocative, no?

Comment below: What was your first impression when you read the title of this blog? What were your expectations? If you were to change the name, what would you call it?

The only problem is that from the name of the blog no one can get an impression that the mainframe is astrology.

I don’t really remember what I thought about the name, other that it’s pretty clever (this applies to Lunar Tunes too, though I like that one better, probably cause of my love to my best buddy, The Moon).

I don’t think that you should change the name. Neither.

  2. blahblah says:

I think I found this blog by following links. I wasn’t sure if the subject matter would be astrological in nature, but the name was so intriguing that I clicked on it anyway.

    If you like alliteration:

    1. Astro Amour
    2. Astro Attraction
    3. Aspect Attractions
    4. Signs of Seduction (or Seduction Signs?)
    5. Celestial Seduction

Seduction Central is a good name.

  3. scorp says:

I had no idea what to expect. I only knew it was about astrology because of a link.
    I like the name.

  4. proserpine says:

I have to admit, speaking just for me, Seduction Central is not a good name.
It doesn’t sound serious.I would not have even looked myself, normally.
I don’t know how I got here, but when I did, I saw it was truly -astrology, not how-to-seduce all the- men(women)- you want -now type of thing–I saw *you* were bright, and thoughtful, so I stayed.
I would not have liked this name so much when I was young and single, either, although I might have *said*something like it myself kidding around.
Now, for other personal reasons, I think I would prefer another name.
    I know it’s clever yes.
And,Lunar Tunes is funny, and cute–it somehow sounds like a cartoon, but it doesn’t conjure up a phone sex-line,similar to what you said yourself.
I mean *no* offense— you, and your information, are both very good.
I’m probably the only one here who feels that way about the blog’s name too–but, you asked.
    So, I told. :-/

  5. Noctule says:

The name is sort of misleading.

I got on this page by searching for sign compatibility and the search results brought one of this blog entries to me.

I had no doubts it was about astrology, since the blog-entries obviously are. I would however have been misled by the blog’s name if I didn’t know about the content beforehand.

It’s indeed a name that would have been associated with dating tricks and so on and so forth.

I also imagine this blog to get a lot of first-time visitors who were searching for the mentioned dating and hookup-tricks, and instead found themselves staring at astrological explanations and charts.

If anything, the name is associated with love/romance/sex/dating first, in my opinion. Seduction Central is however somewhat centered around that, only it’s also a serious astrological blog.

As Exclusion.Blue mentioned, there is nothing in the name that pinpoints the fact that the blog is extending it’s roots within astrology.

I can’t think of any other name for Seduction Central, I’m far too used to this one. I guess no matter what one chooses, it will still be somehow cheesy in order to be catchy, nay?

  6. Eme Kah says:

I got here from your old Astrology in the movies webpage. I didn’t think twice about the name since I already figured it was about astrology. I think it’s a good name, it’s not raunchy, it’s a wee bit suggestive but it’s not VULGAR and if I had gotten here via another reputable astrology blog who had set it up as astrology link, I would assume that it was about love and astrology. Now, if the name were something like “astroboingin’” or “sex-o-zodiac” or “celestial carnal knowledge” or… okay, you get the idea. In that case, I’d be the first to tell you, dude, you have gone TOO far.

  7. diamantella says:

    I second what “exclusion.blue” said.

I came to this site from your BlogLog so I was provided with the screenshot. Besides, I’ve also perused your Lunar Tunes so if it has your name on it, then it should be astrological. =P

But again, like exclusion blue said, others will probably be misguided by the name.

  8. exclusion.blue says:

Why I don’t remember the first impression – I’ve probably found you by a very well phrased (optimized) Google search, therefore on the search results page I only looked at the text bellow, not on the link’s tittles :o )

  9. Jeffrey Kishner says:

Thanks for all your feedback. Maybe I’ll change it to ‘Astroboingin.’

  10. proserpine says:

    Eme, Jeff, LOLOL
    “ASTROBOINGING”
    :-P

    now that’s classy, I tell you what.LOL

  11. jennimi says:

I like the name, but I confess I found it by searching “gemini compatibility scorpio” or something so the name was secondary. I am not going to second guess a person’s web site name, but if you change the feeds, do post about it so we can all change the rss in our aggregators. :)

  12. Jeffrey Kishner says:

Rest assured, I don’t think I’m going to change the title, and I certainly wouldn’t want to inconvenience my feed readers. (I’m glad just to hear someone mention ‘RSS’ here.)

I think it’s a great name. It made me think…

    Seduction is about subtlety.
I think it’s great that you’re trying to explore complexities and dilemmas in the human psyche, on a deeper level. It’s refreshing to get away from the oh-so obvious, crass sexual stereotyping and soundbites.

By the way, I love the blogs and the way it’s set up. Very intelligent and thought-provoking.

I found your link on another astrology site, so when i cam across it, I knew it was going to be a lot more than just dating tips etc, etc. The title of the blog didn’t surprise me, as I am reading a lot on subtleties, non-verbal language, astrology, tarot, jungian stuff; I also dance flamenco and Middle Eastern dance, so emotions, feelings, decoding and relating to the audience/people help with relating and communicating

I enjoy reading the analyis of a chart; apart from the fact that it is fascinating, it also helps me, get to grips with understanding astrology a lot better.

I think you should keep the name as it is. It has an air of mystery to it, and as one the commentators, eme kah, said ( i thoroughly agree with them) it ’s not vulgar. M’mm, classy, subtle and leave syou thinking.
