Sun/Moon sign compatibility in same sex couples

February 14, 2007 by Jeffrey Kishner

A reader asks:
I have a question about Sun/Moon connections between same sex couples. I have read that a great indication of whether a couple will get along well in the emotional area is to take the male’s sun sign and compare it to the female’s moon sign. But what if we are talking about a same sex couple? I am asking because I am a Cancer with my moon sign in Libra and the woman who has caught my eye is a Capricorn with her moon in Cancer. So my Cancer sun sign to her Cancer moon is perfect. But my Libra moon to her Cap sun is not so good. What happens then? Do we then alternate between emotional understandings and misunderstanding?

In a Sun-Moon conjunction between charts, the Moon is the “wife” and the Sun is the “husband,” regardless of gender. Think of “husband” and “wife” as archetypes, bare-bones concepts that underlie these constantly evolving roles. If you two were to hook up, you’d both “lead” in different areas. You’d be the dom in the home front, and she would support you. This is where you shine, after all — Miss Cap would depend on you to run that show. However, as a Capricorn, she’d assert herself in the outside world.

Overall, you two would have a strong emotional bond, and building a family (however you want to define it) would be important to both of you. Your Libra Moon does throw a screw into this Cap-Cancer, work-home balancing act, though. Why do you have to bring the issue of “fairness” into the relationship? Isn’t it enough that Miss Cap brings home the fakin’ bacon and that you steam it? What, do you expect her to do the dishes, too? I suppose with a Cancer Moon, she would.

Miss Cap knows what she wants; you can be indecisive. She can feel impatient when you hem and haw. You can offer a wider perspective when she’s stuck in tunnel vision — not that she’d appreciate you diverting her from her goal. Later, though, she might begrudgingly thank you for thinking about the relationship.

Overall, both of you have so much cardinal energy that, as a couple, you’d be able to get things moving in whatever area of life you apply yourselves.

Good luck!

@Lucian, this calculator shows my Moon in Capricorn, when it is in Aquarius. Are you using the Sidereal or Tropical system?

    Dear Jeffrey,

I would like to seek your advice. I am cancer girl with sagittarius moon who has fallen for my colleage, a libra man with scorpio moon. But there’s some tension btw us for some time due to some misunderstandings.. I also felt very sad because I usually have to take intiative to look for me, he does not really..

meanwhile a pisces guy (with cap/sag moon, but most likely cap moon) is pursuing me.. he is protective and helps me often, but recently he was rude to me during a meeting that upset me. I am very sure Pisces likes me. But unsure of how I feel, because I have feelings for Libra, I really feel for him, but feels sad cos I am not sure if he likes me…

In terms of moon/sun compatibility, could you advice me on who is more compatible with me? Any insight or feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you so much!

    Jes

Here i’m just curious about something, I know alot about astrology but Im always seeking other people’s astrological perspective to develop my own persective. So I have an astrological question for you?

What would be the turnout of a relationship between two males, we’ll call them (A) & (B)…
So (A) has Sun in Aries/Moon in Pisces, Libra Rising
& (B) has Sun in Aquarius/Moon in Virgo, Dunno

And lets just say they each had both Mercury and Venus in their Sun Sign. Just to save complications about (B) having Venus in Capricorn whilst (A) having Venus in Aries and all that incompatible s***e!

Please I want long detailed answers here if you can give, but if you can’t, any answer is better than no answer :) .

And also can you go over the rising with me, I know its the way we appear but i heard somewhere we’re attracted to Sun signs with our Rising sign’s element…??????

    NOTE: I’m (A) btw ; )

  10. Jeffrey KIshner says:

Mr libra rising, if you want long detailed answers, you should compensate me for my time! I mean, really…

  11. Mr. Libra Rising ; ) says:

Lol… Well in what way do you mean compensate? What you just give me a brief description but including all the info I gave you, probably just forget the Mercury and Venus signs….???

  12. mr libra rising, what I mean by “compensate” is that I give so much freely on this blog, and if I’m going to interpret compatibility then I want to be paid for my time and expertise.

  13. Mr. Libra Rising ; ) says:

Okay well how would we be able to manage that… and does it really have to be money, lol?

Okay what if we forgot the rising, venus and merc. and just got a small brief desc. on sun and moon relations, and i mean… brief brief, just a few sentences. if thats ok?

And could you answer me this atleast… What’s your sun sign Jeffrey? :P

  14. Mr Libra Rising, just click on my name to view my services.

A and B are pretty compatible Sun-Sun (fire/air) and Moon/Moon (water/earth) but very incompatible Sun-Moon both ways. Aries Sun and Virgo Moon are quincunx (although some would argue that they are antiscia and thus compatible). Aquarius Sun and Pisces Moon are semi-sextile, air/water, incompatible energies.

  15. Mr. Libra Rising ; ) says:

    cool, thanks.

Interesting bit about the antiscia, if true, it would certainly explain my virgo cousins relationship with her aries boyfriend, they get on like gold.
